Laronica Maurer recently served as the School Climate and Equity Education Programs Professional at the Nevada Department of Education, where she contributed to the vision of the Office for a Safe and Respectful Learning Environment. In this capacity, Mrs. Maurer led initiatives related to school climate, discipline, and Restorative Justice statutory requirements. Her responsibilities included spearheading professional
development sessions, making data-driven decisions, managing grants, and supporting district and school leaders.
Mrs. Maurer’s journey in the education sector began in 2003 when she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and her Master’s Degree in Varying Exceptionalities from the University of South Florida. Later, she earned a second Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership. She has held diverse roles throughout her career, including resource teacher, self-contained instructor, case manager for students with Intensive Emotional Behavioral Disabilities, and Behavior Specialist at an inner-city school.
After moving to Las Vegas in 2015, Mrs. Maurer worked as a General Education teacher within the Clark County School District. Later, she became the Student Support Advocate and Dean of Students at Pinecrest Academy Cadence, where Laronica also served on the administrative team as a school leader. Before joining the Nevada Department of Education, she contributed her expertise in various capacities, such as school behavior coach, Positive Behavior Support facilitator, mentor program creator, and content writer for character education and social skills lessons. Mrs. Maurer has conducted bullying investigations, led the School Safety Emergency Operations Team, and responded to Safe Voice tips, thereby preventing potential suicide attempts. As a certified Crisis Prevention Institute Trainer in verbal de-escalation and as a Restorative Justice Practices Facilitator, Laronica enjoys sharing her success stories with fellow educators.
Mrs. Maurer underscores the importance of collaboration among educators in devising innovative solutions to enhance student outcomes. She emphasizes the value of student voice and community engagement in this process. Laronica Maurer is deeply honored to extend her positive influence within Nevada and other states as the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of School Climate Excellence Educational Services & Consulting.
